SECA hosted a basketball game Wednesday evening against HCA. Both SECA basketball teams won against the opposing teams. One team member from the girls never thought they would have won. Yassmin Ortega, a sophomore, has been in the team since she started SECA, her freshman year. She has played in several games now with various schools.

“To be honest, I was ready and energetic, but also nervous,” said Ortega.

Since she has played before for SECA, she knew what she was expecting. As the game went on, she became anxious because of the players taking the ball away from her.

During halftime, she got together with her team and helped each other out with words of motivation.

“Since we revived motivation and since we talked, I started to perform the strategies necessary,” said Ortega.

She had a friend come to support her out.

“I felt so proud of myself in the end for the fact that I did not get out of control and I had people supporting me and the team,” said Ortega.
